What do you guys think of Holds as a scoring stat?

They're about as good as a save (maybe a little worse). They help you in fantasy leagues since like wr said they do give MR more value than just good ratios, but in terms of real baseball they're about as useless as saves, wins, RBI, and runs.

Exactly, it's just weird like that..

I'm not really a fan of the stat.

You could say the same thing for saves.

I only like them when I know more about the LIMA bean than the other players in the league and get the better hitters and relievers.

Not exactly.

Example: On May 10th, the Twins played the O's. BJ Ryan got a blown save on the day. He gave up no runs. The pitcher he relieved, Jorge Julio, gave up a single to Nick Punto, who made his way to third base, and scored on a sac fly given up by Ryan. Ryan got the blown save, Julio got the hold, even though it was his run the crossed the plate. How can a worthwhile stat not hold Julio accountable for the run which blew the game for the O's? Ryan owners got screwed, and Julio owners (if there are any... :-? ) got rewarded for Julio's ER.

I'm not a fan of the holds. Leagues seem to use them just to make MRs valueable, which is kinda of a dumb reason IMO.
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike

I think that shows that holds and saves and blown saves are all pretty stupid.
Just look at game 3 between the WS and RS. El Duque comes in with the bases loaded, no outs and doesn't give up a run. But later Jenks gets the "save" for the game.

My apologies. I have a nephew named Anfernee, and I know how mad he gets when I call him Anthony. Almost as mad as I get when I think about the fact that my sister named him Anfernee.

I am not a huge fan, because they devalue starting pitching, though it is nice when only a couple other managers realize that starters have lower values...

Agreed. I think in a deep league they'd be a necssity.

Deep leagues have a different dynamic then standard size leagues IMO. More cats are in order, and holds is one way to increase the value of non-closer RPs.
