For years its been Pujols, A-rod and Vlad. And Beltran was thrown in there also but very dissapointing. Don't you think its time to kick Vlad out of the top 3 and move Ortiz in? I mean Ortiz owns him in everything except for Avg. and of course SB. And now Vlad is only running 15-20, and that is not really an impact on your team. Vlad plays OF, Ortiz plays 1b, both deep positions so i really dont think position eligibility comes in as a factor.

What are your thoughts, give Vlad the boot?

No.

15-20 SB is important.

Wait and see where Manny goes before deciding.

I agree that Vlad isn't quite the lock he was coming into this year (at least he was a lock in my mind) but I don't think Ortiz is quite top 3. He only really contributes in 3 of 5 cats (R, HR, RBI) while Pujols, A-Rod, and Vlad are among the best in 4 (R, HR, RBI, AVG) and they will all give you ~10 SB give or take a few.

well it depends. Vlad had a down season this year. IF not for his injury he'd have better numbers. Also it depends on what Sox do with manny. They could move and that'd really ortiz. Personally, I'd go with vlad.

Vlad hit .315 to Ortiz's .300....not really much of a difference. Vlad can barely walk anymore, let alone steal bases. He'll be lucky to steal the 13 he stole this year.

I can undertsand the argument for Vlad, but I'd rather have Ortiz

This is the 2nd time over a full season that ortiz has a .300 or better avg (the last 2 seasons .300 and .301). Vlad has hit .302 or better since his rookie season. He also had 61 bb so he can take a walk. His OBP has been .370 or better since his 1998. Well, you never know about that, but he did steal 15 after that back injury in 2003. I think he'll be fine and I'd go with him over ortiz whether or not Manny is traded.

I agree Vlad is great, but noone has talked about his season. It definately was not top 3 material. I mean the 13 sb really shouldn't matter over the season, especially when you can pick that up off hte waiver wire. 32 HR 95 Runs and 108 RBI is some nice second round numbers. I mean those are practically Carlos Lee numbers. Why the sudden drop off for Lee in avg. I am guessing is just change of pitchers but i would likely not even pay a 3rd for Lee (Vlads numbers this year were practically identical to Lee's last year). Ortiz on the other hand is practically a lock for 40+ hr and 125+rbi. Of course depending on Manny or not, but im sure Manny will be traded before people are starting their drafts, if he does get traded... I think you can also rely on 110+ runs and a .300 avg. and .300 is helping that category.

I think you just have to put Ortiz in the top 3.

I'd still put Vlad in the #3 spot. Anderson had an off-year, and that can be used to explain a slight off year for Vladdy.

Though, I have to admit I would definitely consider Ortiz at #3, it would be hard to pass him up.

Of course, Ortiz is only this valuable if Manny stays with the team.

Uh, what makes you think Ortiz won't be the one to get a freak injury instead of Vlad next year? Look at Vlad's numbers from last year and that's what you should expect for next year.

And since when did ONE season make a guy a top 3 pick? Vlad's been a top 3 player for years, David just one. I like Ortiz a lot but I would consider him to be in the Teix and Miggy class.
Bold Predictions:

Grady Sizemore will have more value than Jason Bay regardless of draft position

Aramis Ramirez in 155 G will hit over .300 40 HR 110 RBIs

Brian McCann will have more value than Jorge Posada regardless of draft position
