Tigers' Double-A team could move to metro Detroit
Wednesday, October 5, 2005
DETROIT -- One of the Detroit Tigers' minor-league teams could soon be making its home in metro Detroit.
Under plans currently being discussed, the Double-A Erie (Pa.) SeaWolves would move to a new stadium that would be built in either Taylor or Dearborn. The SeaWolves would continue to play in the Eastern League, which currently extends as far west as Akron, Ohio, and as far east as Portland, Maine.
Because the new stadium would be within the Tigers' protected territory, Tiger owner Mike Ilitch's approval would be required, but sources said Tuesday that has already been received.
Somehow to me it seems unlikely, but it's interesting to me because it's the mentioned cities are practically across the street from me.
