Speaking of which, this 10pm start tonight is killing me. I'm not in college anymore and I'm exhausted just waiting up for it to start.

No real sleep last night, I took a two hour nap before and after the game.

My advice for staying awake - buy a coffee pot.

Going to bed earlier will probably help. I was the same way in college - even if I got 8-9 hours of sleep, I always felt better if it was an earlier 8 hours rather than later.

You should just do it the old-fashioned way. Coffee and Red Bulls were my crutch (and they still are, especially for days like today when the Yankees are playing until 1 X-I ) It's only natural to get tired in the early afternoon, this is why the Spanish have siesta.

You don't need 8 hours of sleep. I don't think I have gotten 8 hours of sleep on a regular basis since high school.

Anyways I'm getting my 8 hours of sleep but I'm becoming too tired during the middle of the day to read my text books. Sometimes I take a nap in the middle of the day, which works but it take sup 1-1.5 hours of my day. Any suggestions? Pills or a new sleeping pattern? Im going to bed a 1am and waking up at 9:15. Im thinking about going to bed at 11:30 and waking up at 8:00. I had a 2.7 gpa for my last qt becuase I was too tired to read and do hw so this qt something has to change. Im not working out as much as I use too before school so that might be the probelm? All suggestions welcome.

My recommendations:

1) Take no more than a 30 minute nap during the day- it's something about your circadian rythm. You just want to get your body to touch down into sleep and pull it back out. If you sleep too long you'll be much more tired afterwards and you'll have trouble sleeping at night. 1-1.5 hours is way too long.

2) Sacrifice some study time and make sure you exercise. You'll feel better, sleep better, learn better, look better.

3) Don't stress too much about your GPA. Unless you're going to a fancy grad school it's not as important as you think. Just get the credits and stay in the B/C range.

4) Coffee is your friend. Coffee is every college students friend.

5) Don't ever take 18 credits again. What are you, nuts??

I know the feeling. :-° I find that when I have to do a lot of reading (as opposed to working math problems, or programming, or something like that) my attention span goes from about that of a 3 year old (yeah, I have issues :-b) to that of a fruit fly. I have found that the other guys are right. If I get up earlier in the morning, even with the same amount of sleep, I seem to be a lot more productive for some reason, but I can never seem to stay on a decent schedule. There was a while during the beginning of the semester when I was on a 6am -10 pm deal and I felt great and always seemed to get my work done a lot faster, but then my chronic procrastination returned, and I've been screwed ever since. Let me know if you ever find something that works though, becuase I think I'm gonna need it here before too long. X-I

Yes doctor, I am sick.
Sick of those who are spineless.
