I usually try to get in at least one league every year with rules I haven't played before. So I was thinking I could do a 6x6, a straight dynasty with no $ values, or even a points league. I've had reservations about all of these for one reason or another.
6x6 - devalues SP and I'm not a big fan of the "hold" stat.
dynasty - after a couple years wouldn't 2-3 teams dominate?
points - I still haven't seen a points system that I really like. All of them seem to overvalue HR hitters and K pitchers.
Last year I played in 2 H2H leagues. One with work that is pretty casual and another with people from the cafe with 6 keepers. 4 Roto leagues. A small league (10 teams) with my family, Cafe Challenge 05, a salary auction league, and a shared team with my brothers. So I'm looking for some advice. Pimp your systems. NL/AL only, 6x6, points, whatever.
Go AL-only (I'm going to do at least one NL league). I think it's a good test of the depth of your baseball nous to play in one-league universe, especially when it's not the league you watch most of (ie the one that your own ballclub's in). Teams have strengths closer to real ML clubs, and you're left with some interesting strategy decisions: for instance, do you go with one great closer or two ok ones, as there's not enough to go around for everyone to have two or three, and do you have your non-closer RPs be guys who you think might oust a lousy closer, or who are behind good ones but will put up good ERAs and K totals?
If you're playing an AL-only, you're probably only going to have the chance to back up one or two positions with guys who play regular baseball, maybe less considering the util slots, so you have to prioritize effectively.
It also makes you keep a closer eye on the lower level guys, so you might get a better idea of who the whole-mlb sleeper candidates are the next year.
IN ONE LINE: Go AL-only as the greater scarcity of talent means more hard choices, more skill aspect, and a greater challenge.

My work H2H is very laid back with weekly changes so it doesn't take that much time. My family league and the team I share with my brothers has no bench and a limit of 25 moves so there is hardly anything to do in there. So that leaves me with 3 real leagues.

Not mine! My scoring system was designed to generate the same points per year for the average hitter as it does for the average pitcher while still keeping the values of each respective event in balance.
