they are modeled after real guns but shoot small plastic balls between 200 and 300 fps. I dont want a gas powered M16, just a pistol srping gun...those can still got 250 fps, which is sweet.
Airsoft is awesome, awesome, awesome. I'm not familiar enough with it to recommend one or the other. I have played a few times, though. When I was working as a reporter, I wrote a story about these guys, and they let me come back a few times and play. They use their facility for training for law enforcement officials as much as for recreational players. So freaking sweet, I thought it beat paintball any day of the week.
It's big here too. Some kids spend around $100 for some gun they're gonna get burned out on in a few months. I'd rather buy another Xbox for that.

I happen to have a sick yard for airsoft, out front we have a huge area of woods with all kidns of trees and stuff.
At school, people are doing dirve by's. SOOO great. If you are walking to your car, you have to be on the lookout...someone drives by, bam, bam, and you are hit...but now the HS banned them.
Anyway, i am looking forward to starting...looks like a blast!
