Fantasy Baseball Playoff Etiquette

Postby Merlin » Sun Oct 02, 2005 4:36 am

I didn't really know where to put this, so I just stuck it here... I've been playing the same team for the past two weeks in my H2H fantasy league. I'm in 1st and he's in 2nd, trailing by 3.5 games. The past two weeks, hes been spot starting pitchers to rack up stats. I know that spot starting isn't uncommon, but isn't it a little cheap to be doing it for pretty much every single pitcher that makes a start? Doesn't it go against the idea of picking a team?? I guess I just want to know if its frowned upon or what the etiquette on that is... Let me know what you guys think...

Well, it is definitely frowned upon my most managers/leagues. It's sort of an unwritten rule in fantasy baseball to not do it, but many guys still do. It's legal by all means, but that doesn't make it right.

its sneaky, but if there is no rule against it.. then i do not frown upon it ... the goal is to win and doing WHATEVER it takes to win within the rules means your being competetive.. also, it means that your using your brain and finding loopholes.. major league teams look for loopholes all the time, so if your using strategies like that, then all your doing is mimicking professional MLB teams and you should be commended for that, not frowned on.. competetive leagues are the best and most enjoyable leagues... i do not have a problem with it at all.. its fair game
