The nano is also a flash player.
Its not worth $250/4gig

But it is worth $250/4 GB/ So small that it feels like there is nothing there/Illuminating color screen/Ability to backup and transfer files and many more.

Stop adding adjectives to make it sound better. Ability to backup and transfer files? As if other mp3 players can't do that. And the color screen isn't anything special either. Not to mention the screens so small its almost pointless to even have it for pictures. And do you even need something that small? Not to mention the fact that it still lacks a radio and a mic. Does it even have line-in recording? Yes, you can by a radio, but that is not only an extra attachment but also another 30-50 bucks. No thanks.

How is it typical? Typical would be me saying I don't like apple becuase it's so popular. All I'm saying they charge too much for lacking feautures, limited compatibilty, and a plain look.
Thanks for all the opinions, guys. There's a LOT of disagreement on this topic, which is good for someone trying to get educated on all the options. I went and looked at the iPods at a local Apple retail store and the Creatives at a local Cambridge Soundworks (cool store, btw). One thing for sure. Neither salesperson I dealt with knew half as much about .mp3 players as you all in this topic do . I learned more re-reading this thread than I did in the visits to both stores.
Anyway, where does that leave me? Still undecided. I may stick with my crappy little 256mb player a while longer, though I get sick of the same 40 songs pretty quickly. And I'm too lazy to replace the tracks every other day or so.
Thanks again everybody, and if anyone has any MORE to say on the topic, by all means, post!
Ipod:
Everyone has one
The easiest software to use out of all of them
Good Tech Support
The Nano is extemely small
Only Nano and Photo have color display
No mic/fm radio
Longer Batttery Life
Iriver: (h10)
Slightly confusing software, but not at all diffcult
Tech support is great but hard to reach
FM Radio
Mic recording
Supports various music formats (All Subscription services, wma, mp3)
Color Display
Line in Recording (Dock is needed)
And In my opinion, looks better.
Thats all I can think of right now, but I'm sure there's more.
