I have a cheapo .mp3 player that only holds about 40 songs or so, and I really want to upgrade to one of the large capacity players that hold many hundred or even thousands of tunes.
I mostly use my .mp3 player at the gym, on the treadmill or eliptical, or while I'm lifting or stretching. I have thousands of .mp3s saved on data discs and on the hard drive of one of my PCs.
My question: What are the best options out there? Apple is pushing that iPod Nano a lot right now. But I have no love nor allegiance to the Apple company... actually, I don't really like them all that much.
I also don't really need anything that shows pictures or has a color display (as the Nano does).
I'm mostly looking for a high capacity player that is easy to use, and (this is important) one that accepts .mp3's that have been downloaded online over the years (napster stuff , etc.)
Creative Zen Micro. Look into, I promise you will be impressed. I am too lazy to go through everything but it has the best sound quality, it works great and you can compress songs into wma so that a 5 Gb device holds 2500 songs rather than the typical 1250. If you don't want to convert though, it will play mp3's just fine.

The Micro's touch pad design is nothing compared to the H10.
iPod all the way. Even though the nano might have features that you don't particularly want (color screen, pics, etc.), it is the best option for the kind of thing that you use it for (gym, exercise, etc.) it is so small that you really don't notice it at all while you are working out. The synchronicity with iTunes and the simplicity of use are also big pluses
