I'm not sure it's relevant, because the longer I play this game the more I believe you win championships after Round 5. I guess some of the responses we're seeing reinforce that. Mine pretty much does too:

With Helton / Rolen (picking 12th) I felt like I didn't even have a choice in the first two rounds. And I regretted the Rollins pick much of the year...but he's duhman come playoff time.

I couldn't agree more about the picks after round 5.

Johan, Rolen, Delgado, Lidge, Huff. With some nice WW moves and smart trades, its coming down to the wire in our roto league - I'm currently in second but there are 3 teams who could win at this point.

my drafted closers, kolb and looper crapped out, but i was able to pick up baez, dempster, and hermansen...also picked up farnsworth and benitez later in the season.
an early season trade for tejada and teixeira helped as well.

That's kinda why I started this thread. I figured if I could have won, then anyone could have.

Although it is interesting that it is much tougher to recover from a bad draft in roto then H2H. Guess that is to be expected.

I did 2 points H2h leagues and one Roto H2h league this year. First year at roto.

Won one of the points league. CBS Sportsline scoring for the pts leagues, 10 teams. Picks in those..

Came in 2nd in my other pts league but had the best record by far. Only lost 6 weeks of the 25 played. Injuries late killed me in the championship and bad timing running into 6 two game starters for the other guy. (main league)Picks were..

As was stated, what happens later in the draft is where leagues are won and lost. And keeping up with rookie call ups, and hot players. Most of the time I use my top picks in trades to get me multiple players in trades to have great depth to combat injuries. I just had to many injuries this year to overcome right at the end. Livan, Moose, Sheets etc. in my main league.
