NL ROY

Francouer and Howard exploded on to the scene but neither one has played over 100 games yet. Taveras has been doing it all year.
Is 70 innings and 12 games enough for Duke to win it?

I'd been thinking Turnbow still qualified as a rookie. I guess the 38 IP in 2000 were enough to count that as his rookie year?

I really want to vote Howard, but he's only played half a year, and it seems like ROY should go to a guy who's performed wire-to-wire. So for me, Taveras backs in.

He has to be under 50 career innings to count as a rookie. There is also a provision that a player can't be on a MLB roster for more than 45 days.

Howard. I think it might end up being a 'what have you done for me lately' for this. Francoer and Howard are both studs but Howard has been a monster lately.

No love for Garrett Atkins?
.285 avg, 13 HR and 81 RBI is pretty good from a Rookie. Who cares that he couldn't hit away from home? Still pretty good if you ask me.

All that said, I'd still go w/ Tavares who had to replace Beltran from the BEGINNING of the year and will play on the NL WC winner and he had a major part in the Astros winning said WC.

I don't think GA2 qualifies, like you said he can't hit away from home so he really didn't do much better than the worst rookies who played significant time.

If Howard keeps it up all year yes he deserves it, but at this point you have to go with longevity and Taveras. It is rookie of the year, not end of the year.

On ESPNs player rater Howard ranks at -1.87 (below average) and Taveras has a positive value of 0.26. The fantasy NL ROY would have to be Taveras as well.

I voted for Duke. If people can vote for Howard or Francoeur when they only played in 62 and 79 games. A great SP with only 12 starts should be able to win it.
