I really wasn't claiming that as proof of playing hot players as the better strategy and certain percent of the time, but sometimes it is the better move. With one day to go, I wouldn't be extremely likely to win the championship in my main H2H $ league if I hadn't made the call to start Winn over Abreu/Edmonds at various times since September 19th. The studies, proofs, hypothesis, all that takes a back seat to real world ability and luck. There are times when going with the hot player are better than going with the "proven great" player. No study can tailor it's circumstance to your specific situation in time. It comes down to knowledge of these studies and "facts", luck, instinct and common sense. Any given combination of these components can yield a positive result. Not just the surveys.

No, just as it is not always true that the better team wins, it is not always true that the better move wins. Picking the hot guy may win, but that doesn't make it the better move, it makes it the luckier one.
