Just looking at the position it seems that next year will have a nice bounty of players. Just quickly ranking them for next season here's what I came up with.

1. Alfonso Soriano
2. Jeff Kent
3. Brian Roberts
4. Chase Utley
5. Chone Figgins
6. Jorge Cantu
7. Jose Reyes
8. Marcus Giles
9. Robinson Cano
10. Felipe Lopez

I'm not sure about Lopez's eligibility next year at 2B. I think he has enough starts this year to qualify next.

You could also add into the mix Weeks, Iguchi & Polanco as guys who can be productive at a thin position.

Don't think I'd rank them in exactly the same order as you, but the point you make about the nice bounty is a valid one ;-D

Wow? That low on Marcus? Ok...
Reyes = SS only in '06
Lopez = 3B and SS only in '06

Belliar, Iguchi, Walker & Grudz are all about even in my book.

Nah, Roberts is overrated- he's reverted back to the mean. Next year he'll put up his usual .290 100 10 60 30. Not bad, but not 3rd best second sacker.

Utley in a full season could be the top player at the position especially if Alfonso leaves Texas.

Kent has produced extremely well given the circumstances. No one on base ahead of him and no one hitting behind. I imagine that having Drew and Bradley (even if they don't talk) back next year will help. Now if they can only find a lead-off hitter and return Izturis to the 8 hole where he belongs.

Agreed that Roberts is pretty overrated I believe he'll still get you the Sb's next year but it's highly doubtful he'll get anywhere near his total for RBI's, HR's, and Avg. next year, no way Id put him at 3rd next year ahead of guys like Figgins, Giles and Utley.

Reyes belongs in the same class as Figgy... their stats are pretty similar, unless you're in an OBP/OPS league.

Utley is gonna be great next year... where's Polanco? He's hitting like .350
