Whoa...MCab to shortstop?!?!

Postby San D » Sun Sep 18, 2005 11:00 am

Just read on Rotoworld that McKeon is considering playing Miguel Cabrera at shortstop at late innings when they pinch hit for their present shortstop. In some leagues with relaxed eligibility requirements, this puts him in Pujols territory in drafts next year! Who knows, this could become a pattern next year also.

Unless Alex Gonzalez misses significant time and/or they are extremely desperate, I wouldn't count on Miggy filling in at SS. Good news in leagues that only require 1 appearance at a position though.

Don't go crazy getting excited about this. It will mean nothing in the long run. McKeon said he wouldn't be afraid to use him at SS in the case they pinch hit for the SS (can't remember his name). For Miggy to become qualified at SS next year, this would have to happen 10 times ... because he won't start any games there. So this is no big deal. ;-7

Imagine if Miggy did get 10 starts there this year, I would think he'd be a top 4 choice next year then.

He would only need to start 5 games. 10 is what he needs if he does not start, but appears in that position during the game ... at least those are Yahoo's qualifications.
