SportsLine Problem

Postby ramble2 » Sat Sep 17, 2005 7:09 pm

This is the first year my league has used SportsLine. We used to use Yahoo. We are going back to Yahoo next year, as we've been very disappointed with SportsLine.

In particular, I'm frustrated by how many times I've caught mistakes made in the statistics for players. Yesterday is a good example. For the Sept. 16th CIN @ PIT game, CIN won 8 to 2. Salomon Torres did not pitch.

Torres, meanwhile, is on my fantasy team. SportsLine credited him with pitching an inning, giving up a hit and a win! SportsLine hasn't corrected this from yesterday. I've noticed this has happened a few other times too.

This is not good. Yes it's great to get a win, but not like this. And if it's happening to me, then it's happening to other teams too. The statistics compiled by SportsLine are, frankly, unreliable. Given how much they charge, that's piss-poor. :-t

Has anyone else used both SportsLine and Yahoo recently? I can't wait to go back to Yahoo next year.

No way, Yahoo's the only way to go.

One guy in our league (not me!) convinced us to give SportsLine a go for the year. He's a big SportsLine fan.

I polled my league recently to see how many wanted to stick with SportsLine and how many wanted to go back to Yahoo next year.

11-1 in favor of Yahoo. Guess which guy has a reputation for being a bit stubborn and not admitting it when he's wrong ...

And don't even get me started comparing the two sites layout and accessibility ... :-[

That's tough. I've always stuck with Yahoo, and see no reason to switch, especially after your horror tale.

Actually, CIN and PIT had a doubleheader yesterday, and Torres won the nightcap. :-?

I haven't noticed any problems with Sportsline's service. I've never used Yahoo except for free leagues.

D'oh. Open foot, insert mouth. !+)

I didn't realize there was a doubleheader. When I clicked on the stats from the Torres line, it took me to the other game.

I still don't like SportsLine. The layout and features always screw me up and don't seem at all intuitive to me.
