I'm part of the big brother/big sister program. I've got a 9th grade student who needs to do a couple of book reports. I know that Bill Simmons did a column on good sports books, but I can't find it. Can anyone give me books on sports - either basketball or football. Early high school level.

No argument from me. Hell, I tried to turn the kid onto baseball but it's not for him. So, in the interest of helping out a poor inner-city kid, does anyone have any real suggestions?

Well for that I commend you!
Baseball is far superior, but what can ya do?
You could have him read that Wilt Chamberlain book where he talks about sleeping with 10,000 women.
