Does he project to be better than Kendry and can he be the Sox's 1B next year?
1B | Michel Abreu | Boston Red Sox | Transaction
The Boston Globe's Gordon Edes reports the Boston Red Sox signed Cuban-defector 1B Michel Abreu to a deal with a $425,000 signing bonus. He hit .356 with 23 homers and 82 RBI in 78 games in his final professional season in Cuba. Those numbers eclipsed those of Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Kendry Morales during his last year. Abreu will turn 27 in January.
