I was talking to someone from the U.S.A the other day who said it took him 25 years to set eyes on the ocean. I think he was from the Mid-West.

98% of New Zealanders live within 25 miles of a beach. I guess it's something we Kiwis just take for granted.

I'm from the midwest so I've only been to a beach once in my life and I was too young to remember it :-/

I've only seen it twice - once when I was 8, and again when I was 22.

Same here, down in Florida. But I've got plenty of Lake Superior around me up here. I live 3 blocks from the shore of Lake Superior.

Not me...I live 10 minutes from the beach. I'm there 10 times a month during the summer months.

I live three minutes from the beach, tops. The houses in my neighborhood all have ocean view; I practically live on the beach during the summer.

I do know a few people like that from Minnesota, though.

I live on a river that goes right to the ocean. I see the Atlantic every day and maybe I take it for granted, because I don't get what the big deal is...

I've been to the beach once up in Oregon, that was when I was 4 and I only remember it from pictures. You don't get around to the beach to much in Eastern Iowa.
