For those who aren't familiar with him, Mos Def is a rapper (he's done a bunch of acting stuff recently) who's primarily known for his social and cultural rhymes.
Anyways, he just did a record called "Katrina Klap" to benefit the victims of Katrina and in it he bashes Bono along with President Bush. I really don't want to see this break down into a political thread or anything (although that may be wishful thinking on my part ) but it's rare that you see a hip-hop artist go cross-genre on a diss record.
I love Mos Def and U2 (but they are really starting to suck and should have retired at the same time as Cal RIpken) but Mos is off the mark with his criticism of Bono. U2 is playing at the hurricane concert on MTV. That's going to raise a lot more $ than Mos Def's single.
This thread got me thinking. You know who should be doing a record for the relief effort? CCR. Those guys are from there and have the right music "Born on the Bayou" "Fortunate Son" "Who'll Stop the Rain" etc. Where is John Fogerty when you need him?

That's an outstanding point Mook but I think Fogerty and the rest of the band's relationship is so strained and non-existent that even with all the damage done down there they probably still wouldn't get together.
"It's enough to make you holler out/ Like where the f--- is Sir Bono and his famous friends now?/ Don't get it twisted, man, I dig U2/ But if you ain't about the ghetto, than f--- you too/ Who cares about rock and roll when babies can't eat food?"
That's retarded, but it's not as bad as I was imagining it initially. But let's face it, rappers aren't known for their attention to reality, even if it's a guy like Mos Def who's usually on point 99% of the time.
Edit: Actually, it's really more like 60 percent of the time. Which is more than most MCs.

I might be wrong but I thought CCR was from California.
