I think he is capable of some 20/20 seasons, but I don't think he'll hit for that high of an average, say .260. I guess he'll still be a decent fantasy option, but I'd take a guy who'll hit something like 30/.280 like Utley first.

So I don't think he'll be a complete bust, but I don't think he's The One as BA and others have him pegged to be, and if he could get Liriano for him I would do it in a heartbeat.

On my major league roster I have Scott Rolen tied down to a 3 year contract, would it be worth me trading Butler for some serious pitching talent? If so, what sort of player could I get for him? I'm looking to rebuild this next year and play for 07, will Rolen still be effective then?

Or should I trade Rolen instead? I would post this in the draft/trade/keeper forum, but not many in there will know a lot about a guy like Butler nor pitching prospects......

Hold on to Butler! He won't qualify at 3B by the time he reaches the bigs anyways. He'll be a corner outfielder, 1b, DH. I would trade anyone other than those two for some pitching depending on who you got in return.

I'm with Bigken... also I really think that pitching is the most mercurial, both prospect-wise and at the major league level you can find useful pitchers most of the time...Did anybody have Derick Turnbow at the start of this year (before spring training) in your league? Tons of players become hot prospects each year, especially pitchers, hang on to your stud hitters, because they are much harder to come by.

agree w/most of the above comments but on a practical nature i would hang on to todd coffey...it might be a favorable conjunction of opportunity meets the right pitcher and he may end up closing in cinci next year...
