He defected from Cuban and was just signed by the Red Sox for $425.00 . All I know about him is he is a power hitting first baseman . He is on his fourth agent and is still trying to get a visa. Anybody know anything more about him?

I hear their initial offer was only $415, but they got in a bidding war with the Yankees that jacked his price up that extra $10.

He must be the greatest prospect ever to get such a huge signing bonus. Maybe he can now afford the deposit for a studio apartment somewhere.
Sorry, I've never heard of him. Mitchell doesn't exactly sound like a Cuban name, either.

It's Michel, and his bonus is $425k. (Signing a prospect for $425 would just be the BEST moneyball idea though wouldn't it?

) He was fairly useful in Cuba, but then there's no track record of Cuban position players being any good. S'pose we've got the cash, so it's worth a pop.

This is an awesome move by the Red Sox. I definitely think that the odds are better than 1/1000 that he ends up doing something productive in the major leagues someday.
