I got the National Association's 6 Teams confused with the 2 additional teams that added on to form the original National League.
(I know I know AT Screws up again...)
"The National League in 1876 consisted of eight teams, six of which were previously members of the defunct National Association. The teams were: the Chicago White Stockings, the St. Louis Brown Stockings, the Hartford Dark Blues, the Boston Red Caps, the Louisville Grays, the New York Mutuals, the Philadelphia Athletics, and the Cincinnati Reds (not the same as the modern Reds, who began play in 1882 as the Red Stockings and joined the National League in 1890). Of these teams, only the White Stockings (now the Chicago Cubs) and the Red Caps (now the Atlanta Braves) have survived to the present day."
The correct Answer(s) are:
1) Chicago White Stockings -----> Chicago Cubs
2) Boston Red Caps (Red Stockings) --------------> Atlanta Braves
3) St. Louis Brown Stockings
4) Hartford Dark Blues
5) Louisville Grays
6) New York Mutuals
7) Philadelphia Athletics
8) Cincinatti Red Stockings
The Correct Answer I suppose should go to whoever provides all 8 correct teams and the correct 2 surviving teams in the fastest time but should that fail and someone provide 6 of the 8 Correct Teams (Without incorrections or 2 incorrect added teams) I'll award that person with the fastest time since I technically screwed up the question slightly by saying original 6 teams when in fact there were 8 and I was referring to the original 6 from the National Association.
If you're curious the 6 founding teams of the National League that originated in The National Association were:
Chicago Whitestockings
New York Mutuals
Philadelphia Athletics
Hartford Dark Blues
St. Louis Brown Stockings
Boston Red Stockings (Red Caps will also be accepted)
The Louisville Grays and Cincinatti Reds were added as the 7th and 8th founding teams of the National League. Neither team survives today but obviously a new Cincinatti Reds franchise was reformed...
The Red Stockings were a charter member of the National League in 1876, but the team was expelled from the league later, in part for violating league rules by serving beer to fans at games.
I hope this clears up any questions about what the correct answers should be and what will qualify as a correct answer and receive the points. It's a complicated question because of the screwy start to the league, apologies if I made it worse...
