Anyone know why he left the game after 5.2 innings??? He's been the best pitcher the second half of the year, I can't afford to lose him :-o

Andy Pettitte left tonight's game because his left foot had swelled to the point where he was having trouble pushing off the mound.
Pettitte took a grounder off the foot in the third inning and left in the sixth. He's not expected to miss any time.

It doesnt sound to bad of an injury. From my point of view I now have Colon leaving a game early with a back problem, Petite with a foot, and Smotlz with a neck issue. Not what I need heading into the end of the season after just moving into first yesterday for the first time since July.

Well Pettitte looked solid in his return. Smoltz also looked good, though the Braves BP blew another while Colon got the win. No more than 7 IP for any of them, despite low pitch counts. Maybe lingering effects, but they all seem ready for this week.
