Griffey's still at least a couple more days away from getting a chance to notch another steal, though he has begun testing his strained right foot.
During Tuesday night's game, Griffey ran in the tunnels underneath Great American Ball Park at 60-70 percent intensity, according to head athletic trainer Mark Mann.
"He felt good," Mann said. "No problems at all."
Mann dismissed a report in Wednesday's Dayton Daily News that Griffey might be done for the year.
"I don't know where this report came from, but he has a strained foot," Mann said. "We're going to progress him over the course of the next couple days and see how he feels this weekend."
Mann said Griffey will continue to run and hit in the cage. The team is hoping to have him back in action as soon as the weekend series against the Pirates.
"At this point in time, we fully expect him to play again in the '05 season," he said.
