Cruz agreed to a one-year contract with the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. GM Brian Sabean said the contract includes a mutal option for 2004.
Fantasy Spin: Cruz had a down year in 2002 (.245-18-70 with only seven steals) and won't get much help from Pac Bell, but he has the talent to make a nice comeback. Count on around 20 homers and 10-plus steals, but beware of his subpar OPS numbers.

The Giants just keep getting better and better--and they led the NL in runs LAST year. They are my favorites in the NL again if they get 1 or 2 young pitchers to step up.

my bet is they put him right in front of Bonds. Then he will get tons of good pitches to hit.

Conventionally, you'd put Cruz's speed ahead of Bonds and Edgardo's bat behind him for protection, but if he steals the base that just means another walk for Bonds. It'll be interesting to see where Felipe puts him in the order. Conventionally, Kent should have batted after Bonds, but he wasn't nearly as successful as when he was ahead of him.

I don't think Cruz batting second would work because of his low average. But he's going to bat in front of Bonds of behind him, either way with help his stats.

i like that lineup. Durham and Cruz can = man on 2nd and 3rd after each singles & steals. then the have to pitch to Aurilla cuz if they walk him it's LIGHTS OUT!
