I certainly wasn't one of them. I thought he'd flop and look what happened
I'm a Beltre supporter. I was before his great 04 year, and i am after his 05 struggles. The adjustment to AL pitchers, and pressing with the big contract have really hurt. I fully expect 35 hrs-110 rbis next year.
DM, Perez in 04 lead the majors in K/9.

I know that, I was talking about this season. You can't call him an underachiever this season because he didn't achieve anything at all this year. He was a bust, not an underachiever.

Hootie.......Without trying to hijack this thread, would you make Beltre 1 of my 5 keepers on this team?? I only list the hitters because my pitching stinks. Beckett is my only pitcher of note:
C V. Martínez (Cle - C)
1B D. Lee (ChC - 1B)
2B A. Soriano (Tex - 2B)
3B A. Béltre (Sea - 3B)
SS O. Cabrera (LAA - SS)
OF C. Crawford (TB - OF)
OF H. Matsui (NYY - OF)
OF Mi. Cabrera (Fla - 3B,OF)
Util L. Berkman (Hou - 1B,OF)

If you are keeping Beckett, that leaves four spots for your lineup. Crawford, Cabrera, and Lee are locks to be keepers, so that leaves one spot left. You have arguably the best 2b and C in fantasy baseball and you would only be able to choose one to keep. I don't Beltre fits here and after the year he had this year, I think your owners will be very hesitant to draft him, making him easy for you to re-acquire.

My thoughts exactly although, for a sec, I thought that you were saying that I should keep Orlando Cabrera.

Lee/Soriano/Crawford/Cabrera are the 4 locks. The 5th spot is close between VMartinez and Beltre. Beckett imo is only the 3rd option. Martinez was crap for 2 to 3 months. Hard to say what he he's capable of. I won't push my Beltre support. If it was my team, i might lean Beltre. But keeping Martinez for your 5th is solid.

I agree although I'd say definitely keep Crawford over Matsui. I might keep VMart over Beckett though, but it depends on what kind of pitchers you think will be available in your league next year.

Can't you pick up Beltre at a discount if you really wanted him? I mean, hes not going to be a 5th round pick next year.
