9 K's thru 5 IP, 3 hits.
Is this just an emergency start or will he get some more starts. Anyone know any history on him (other than a failure as a closer) or watching the game have an opinion on his performance?

I am home watching the Cards' game. Kiko looks real good. It's funny because he's lucky to hit 90. But his pitches have a lot of movement & his delivery is pretty deceptive. He kind of reminds me of Brian Lawrence when Lawrence is on his game. This game might be against the Brewers who K a bunch. But I don't know, Kiko might be better than people think. I certainly wouldn't dump anybody good for him yet. The other problem is that there really isn't a rotation spot for him unless the Cards wake up and dump Tomko from the rotation. But Kiko is a guy worth watching. He has looked real good all year out the bullpen. But the most encouraging thing tonight was that he only walked 2. He had a tendency before to walk a few too many hitters. In any case, with this performance, TLR has to give Kiko another start. And as far as I'm concerned, Woody and Matty Mo are the only secure pitchers in that rotation. Tomko, Stephenson, and Simontacci are all expendable.

Good info. Hearing he can barely hit 90 scares me off a bit. I wasn't planning on grabbing him, I was just surprised by the number of K's since I didn't think he was much of a power guy.
Escobar and Clement are 2 guys who aren't guaranteed roster spots on my squad, but I'm not bailing on either for Kiko at this point.
I see Eldred was used in the 6th inning, hopefully Izzy is ready to start piling up some desperately needed saves for me.
