Man that's pretty darn good. Orvella, Borowski, and Baez are good for the pen. Imagine if they could sign a couple of FA's to go along with Kazmir.

Except their pitching staff will be Kazmir and a bunch of stiffs. Their bullpen will likely lose Baez at some point because they will trade him rather than pay him and the rest of their pen is pretty awful.

All hitting, no pitching has not helped the Rangers or the Os compete in their respective divisions. The Drays really have zero chance on their budget in the AL East of all places. The Yanks, Red Sox and Os are all big budget teams and there is virtually no shot of someone like TB taking out all 3 of them in any given year to say nohing of the Jays who also have a pretty decent team on a mid-scale budget.

I think that TB has a chance to develop into a pretty decent ballclub in the future if they spend some $$$. They have a good group of young hitters, and Kazmir to anchor the rotation. If they would spend some money and get some FA pitchers they could compete.

Yeah, their payroll is barely more than A-Rod. If they were to ever decide to spend a little, now is the time. The pieces are in place.

The Devil Rays seem to have gotten better since they traded for Borowski. He's been lights out in middle relief, owning the 8th inning. He's gotten little, if any press here at the Cafe. How about some props Jo Bo?!?!

I agree, which is why much of the young talent there will go to waste. But, as San D said if there is ever a time for them to spend it is now.

I agree with Yanks04, under the current ownership they won't be doing crap. They got some nice young talent, the hitting part of that talent will probably all be up next year while the pitching part of that talent still has a ways to go(Those couple of former Rice pitchers like Niemann and Townsend and I think theres a couple more decent pitchers in their farm system.) But with the ownership doing business the way it does, I don't see them doing crap until they get someone new to run it.
