What tools do you use for cutting out players?

Mainly this is for Adobe but you paintshoppro and gimpers can pitch in too.

I was just wondering cuz there are just soo many. First i used the polygonal lasoo tool, not really a good idea as i found out that people were not made from straight lines. I have heard alot about the magnetic lasoo but never used it.

What about the pen tool, any good?

I tried the Magic wand for a little but that is crazy hard with all the people in the background. ATM ive been very lazy and i use the extract tool. Not alot of people use it but it takes 1 minute max, I love it,

I use the magnetic lasso tool...and then touch up wiuth the regular lasso, i also feather it after i cut it out. But my photoshop skills really arent that impressive...

I just zoom in and erase, I've never tried any of the other methods really. You usually get close-cut edges with a little bit of a fade so they look smooth and you really don't miss anything. I can't say that it's quicker because I've never seen any of the other ways, but it does take a solid amount of time (although you get faster as you work with it alot).

I zoom in and erase also. At the end I feather .5 px and hit delete a few times depending how close I got. Sometimes if the picture colors are amazing (in the sense of ease) I'll use the magic wand. Also depending on what you do with your people, you might not even need to throughly cut them out.

Most of the time I just zoom in with the regular lasso with a 1px feather and then use the eraser to touch everything up. I've also tried the pen tool, magnetic lasso etc.

I use the pen tool (thanks leal ) it work amzingly well. You just click around the player so really you can be as accurate if you want you can zoom all the way in or just zoom in a little and the cut always seems to be nice. Takes much less time than eraser and I think its just as accurate. Magnetic Lasso frusturated me because if it went off course you were screwed and the regular lasso is much harder because you have to make one line with the pen tool you can just make alot of dots and makes life a whole lot easier

The fact is that the size that you are limited to here as far as sig's go really allows you to be lazy in cutting them out. I just go with the magnetic lasso and touch it up with normal lasso. If you were working with more detail then I would use the pen tool - you can't go wrong with paths.

Magnetic lasso if it gets off path you can just hit backspace and it will delete the last dot...

I use a few methods depending on my mood, one is the magnetic lasso, then touching up with the eraser, another is just select and delete the outter part of the pic and then erase, and another is the magic wand

I always just zoom and erase, but I may try and use the pen tool, as it seems to be a popular way or eliminating some of the work.
