A-RAM to the DL

Postby NY Yankees Fan 2004 » Fri Aug 26, 2005 4:02 pm

Aug 26 Ramirez has been placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Chicago Cubs after suffering a moderate to severe strain of his left quadriceps while running to first base in the first inning of Wednesday's loss to the Atlanta Braves. The third baseman has been nursing a similar, but less severe, aliment is his right leg this season as well, but had been playing through the injury. In 123 games this season, Ramirez is batting .302 with 31 home runs and 92 RBI.
Advice: The Cubs currently do not have a timetable for Ramirez' return. Shortstop Ronny Cedeno was recalled from Triple-A Iowa to fill the void on the roster, while shortstop Nomar Garciaparra has volunteer to take over at the hot corner. Jose Macias, Cedeno and possibly Neifi Perez could see time at the position as well.

How about Casey Blake as his replacement? Blake hit 5 homers last month.. that's who I'm slotting in there.

Oh, good... good...

The only position for which I have no backup gets injured in the second week of the playoffs after rosters are locked.

Well, at least I won the divisional title in the regular season.
