Also I should add that you should always read the comments on the bottom of each file and see what people have to say about the quality... X-vids are very good quality files, but you should probably read up on the file quality of others..

Piratebay is ok, but I like torrentspy.com and mininova.org a lot better.
I really only get video or music files, so look for the .avi extension on videos. .rar, you open with WinRar(free). This is usually programs but can be videos.
DivX player is my favorite media player for .avi's.
For .bin and .cue, (more common with bootlegs) use VLC player or Nero Showtime(not free).

I don't really download games though; too scared of viruses since I don't know what all the files are. With videos, you know what each file is.
