He was hyped a little on sites dedicated to the Mets farm system because of his bat but never seemed to get much recognition by the larger outlets. I've never seem him play (until now) but supposedly he is a subpar defensive catcher and was converted to 1B. I think that played a part because people doubted his defensive ability. A few days isn't much to go on but I think he's been pretty good defensively.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
I doubt he'll ever catch again. He injured his shoulder pretty badly and the Mets moved him down to AA before this season so that he could work as a 1B.
What are you guys doing?

How have I never heard of this guy? Where was he like drafted and what year and why has he never been too hyped. If hes just a guy that came up and has never put up spectacular minor leauge numbers I doubt he'll keep this up for long, but stil 4 HR's in 4 games is still a great accomplishment.
