I'm in love with this guy already, he has a sweet lefty swing and he's had some nice scoops and line drive snags in the field.
Through his first 4 games he has 4 HRs and is hitting .538
Don't misconstrue this, because I'm not saying he's as good, but he reminds me a bit of Todd Helton. Lefty, powerful 1B (although Jacobs can catch, too), look bigger (and hit bigger) than their weight would tell you (Jacobs 6'2, 190, Helton 6'2", 195).
I think he has the starting 1B gig nailed down for the rest of the year.. Does anyone know if this kid can hit lefties at all? Ryan Howard is frustrating me with all of the games he's been missing.

It's funny you mentioned Helton because thats exactly who I thought of watching him swing yesterday. He has a "Helton-like" swing. Like any rookie I need to see more, see how he hits the breaking ball, how he handles tough lefties etc... before I go bananas. But he's got some promise and the Mets clearly need the 1B bat. I'd be surprised if he doesn't keep that job for the forseeable future.
His swing has a bit of Chipper and some Chavez in it. I love the kid so far but I also realize that this could be the Mets version of Kevin Maas only time will tell.
