Frequently asked Yahoo questions.

Postby Madison » Wed Aug 24, 2005 11:55 am

This thread is designed specifically for Yahoo questions, so here are a few common questions, and answers for them:

Q - When can I sign up for yahoo?
A - Opening day for Yahoo was Feb. 17th last year ('05), so expect around the same date for the '06 season.

Yahoo will start taking signups for the 2006 season on February 1st!

Link to official statement!

NEWEST UPDATE:It will be Thursday, Feb. 15th, for 2007!

Q - In Yahoo, what is the difference between O-Rank and Rank??
A - According to Yahoo:

O-Rank Player's overall Yahoo! Sports ranking (based on current and prior seasons).
Rank Player's ranking based on stat filter selected.

Q - How does position eligibility work?
A - According to Yahoo:

Batters need either 5 Games Started or 10 Games Played at a position to gain eligibility.
Pitchers need 3 Starts to gain SP eligibility, 5 Relief Appearances to gain RP eligibility.

Q - What is the tiebreaker in H2H leagues if there is a tie in the playoffs?
A - ERA for the week is the typical stat used to determine the winner for the week if there's a tie.

Q - I have players in a doubleheader today. How does that get scored with my game per position limits?
A - If your player plays both games for any reason (including a pinch hit, defensive replacement, etc.) then it counts as two games played. If they only play in one game, then it only counts as one game played.

Q- "How many teams can I have for baseball?"

A- A maximum of 4 full season teams, and 4 mid-season teams per ID.

I will add to this as new questions arise. :-)

another one for the list: Dropping someone does not count as a move or trading someone... only picking up a player...

:-?

Trades do count as roster moves. At least they did last year. Got a link for that info? I'll add it if you do. ;-D

I have a Keeper league with a 26 man roster (benches included) with 10 players. How many guys should be kept from year to year?

thats all up to you guys, if you want to keep the same guys make it a large number, if you want new guys every year and more interesting drafts, make it a low number

Agreed. ;-D

Take a league vote, and then go from there. Just remember that the more keepers you allow, the smaller the free agent pool will be, and vice versa.

If you're looking for a typical number, 5-6 keepers is about average in a 10 team league.

Good one. Thanks Go_Jays! ;-D

I did tweak it a little since you can have 4 full season leagues and 4 mid-season leagues on the same ID, but that was one I should have already had in the FAQ to begin with. Thank you for pointing that out Go_Jays! ;-D ;-D
