Cardinals right-hander Jason Marquis pitched a two-hit shutout against the Nationals on Saturday, but it wouldn't be shocking if he were traded for a hitter before Wednesday's deadline for setting postseason rosters, or more likely, traded during the off-season.
Marquis, who had won only one of his previous 13 starts, doesn't figure to be in the Cardinals' playoff rotation, and his salary figures to rise from $3 million to at least $4.5 million in arbitration next season. The Nationals are believed to have shown interest.
