I told him that Miami's got the best rep in the pack and that future employers won't really bother checking out how his individual department was instead. I mean, other than some schools that have these esteemed reputations (such as Yale Law School...I know this is grad), people don't seem to recognize the best communications schools in the USA or anything. Basically, I said Miami should be at the top of the list. The environment rocks, too.
Oh, I'm a diehard FSU fan to boot.
Maybe I want the worst for him.

I take it you want to stay on the East Coast? If that's the case I can't help you...although if you wanted to go somewhere on the West Coast I highly recommend UCSB (where I am attending this fall) for anything related to journalism or communication. I got a 1380 math/english and a 4.1, so it certainly isn't too far out of the realm, especially if you do well in your first semester this year. I'd also recommend Northwestern; my grandfather, Jack Shepherd, used to be a sportswriter for one of the Chicago papers (in the 60's) and that's where he went. Past that, I'm of no help . Good luck, though .
Only one I applied to there was Syracuse, but I never visited. I understand it has a phenominal communications or journalism school. Very, very cold though.
I didn't visit or apply to Ithaca, but I did visit Cornell, and quite frankly, I hated it. By far my least favorite that I visited.
I applied to like 11 schools, but that was definately more than I needed to.

Yeah, I'm staying on the East Coast. I heard about Northwestern being a very good school. I just haven't really looked into it and my parents aren't exactly big fans of my flying all the way out to the suburbs of Chicago. It's great for journalism, as you said. I don't think they have any broadcast journalism there, but since I didn't really look there, I'm not 100% sure. Freakin genius...1380 SAT and 4.1 GPA.
Haha, the SAT is kind of deceptive; it was an 800 math and 580 english. The math really buoys my score. It's too bad you don't want to come to the West Coast...weather and girls are .
Ithaca is also the home to the story told in the movie Road Trip. Is that what you were referring to?
As far as those schools, I wouldn't know outside of Hofstra and Hempstead isn't too bad. Hofstra bars aren't horrible and there is a pretty decent looking student body. I didn't go there, I went to Binghamton, I'm thinking you've heard of it being from NY. Not really much of a communications school, so I'm afraid I can't be of much use.
