The Mets are prolly gonna trade for Manny in the offseason. Actually let me re-phrase that. Manny WILL be traded in the offseason and the Mets are the only ones that will take that contract.
They wouldn't be able to sign Soriano with Manny's contract

It sounds like no deal will be made. The Twins did this to block a trade with "some other" team in the AL...does anybody know who that might be? If a deal can't be made then he stays with Texas. So I'm expecting him to stay a Ranger. Could be wrong though...

I'll be really shocked if the Twins can actually6 make a deal with the Rangers. They tried just before the trading deadline and couldn't do it. The Twins placed Mays, Lohse, Romero all on waivers. Lohse and Romero were claimed by other clubs, so the Twins recalled the waivers which now means they cannot be traded this season.
This leaves Mays. Do you think the Rangers would take him as the centerpiece of a trade w/Soriano? Unless the Twins up the ante mucho, this ain't happening.

This afternoon's deadline passed without Alfonso Soriano being traded from the Rangers to the Twins.
The Twins had until today to work out a trade for Soriano after claiming off waivers. It's unclear whether there were any talks at all. Soriano is now ineligible to be traded for the rest of the season. Aug. 22 - 7:21 pm et

The Rangers need pitching to be really good next season. Billy Beane built the A's to go for a run next season but nobody told them that because they're ahead of schedule. The Angels will always be there. So without pitching the Rangers will be a .500 team

I think it's actually more about finances. I can't remember which, but he is either eligible for a hefty raise next year or is a free agent. The Rangers have a very good 2B ready to call up so they wanted to get something for him before he becomes too expensive.
The Twins I doubt were really interested in Soriano. They just blocked any trades.
I thought Soriano was due a mountain of money in arbitration...
Yes, I was, uh... I was thinking about ordering the tape, the videotape... about the college girls and the... the wild... the wildness. They're going wild or something? Somebody told me... about going wild.
