per mlb.com, soriano was claimed by twins off waivers and the teams haave 48 hours to work out a deal. while rangers wont get liriano, i would think they would consider getting something back in reeturn since they are out of contention now.

Does anyone else find it surprising that the Mets didn't claim Soriano off of waivers? I would think they would be a team that might try and acquire Soriano with the intent of signing him to a longer deal.
Any Mets fans have any insight?

The Twins have an earlier waiver stab at Soriano than the Mets.
Since Soriano is on an AL team right now, all the AL teams have WW priority over all the National League teams, like the Mets.

Got it. I thought it went strictly by record, not by League. Thanks for the clarification.

That's crazy man! So does anybody else think this would hurt his fantasy value? He hasn't been doing much this past week or two either, but maybe that's because of what's going on here.

You'd probably see a major hit on his fantasy value. Consider his home/away splits:
To be fair, he has hit well at the Metrodome in his career. But he's only played 16 games there so I'm not sure how informative that is.
