People Who Ruin Your Leagues!

Postby jzfran » Sun Aug 21, 2005 5:52 pm

I did this league as a practice draft. i dont pay too much attention to it. This one guy is in 2nd place. I went out of town for the past week and I did not have computer access. While I was gone, this team accepted a deal in which he got:
A. Jones (Atl - OF)
P. Martínez (NYM - SP)
J. Isringhausen (StL - RP)
J. Beckett (Fla - SP)
D. Hermanson (CWS - SP,RP)
and he gave up:
B. Crosby (OAK - SS)

Unfortunately, due to a large number of inactive owners along with my untimely vacation, the deal was not vetoed and this team has now cheated. In protest, a few teams released their entire rosters and benched every player on their team. Why do people cheat like this!?!?!?!

who really cares? you even admitted that you don't really care about it. i won't touch a league where money isn't involved.

Huh? When I read that first line following your thread title, I thought how ironic is that??

I'd think someone joining my league just for practice draft is someone who ruins my league. You (and maybe a few other owners) ruined it before it ever got to this point where cheating occurred.

OR did I misunderstand what you meant?

And BTW, I don't believe $$$ should be necessary at all. If you really *need* the $$$ to motivate you to compete, then IMHO, maybe you're playing the wrong game. Sure, I can understand many people enjoying the added incentive or whatever, but IMHO, you shouldn't *need* the $$$ as a primary motivation. That's what bookies and Vegas are for.

On 2nd thought, maybe you guys just meant $ as an entrance fee to point out that the league is intended to be competitive, not so much to serve as any real motivation to compete. Still, ideally, it shouldn't be necessary, except if the fee actually goes to pay for stuff needed to run the league and such.

Those were my thoughts as well. You yourself did your part to 'ruin' the league by using it a "practice" from the very beginning. For some of those people, that may have been their only or primary league.

It wasnt totally a practice (as I am in 3rd place out of 12 teams!) I have made the 4th most moves in the league too.

Then whyd you say it was for a practice draft.

Anyway, ya that stuff happens all the time in free Yahoo public leagues. Thats why I try to stay out of those if Im going to play a free league.

Well, don't just join any old free public league on Yahoo. :D I use Yahoo for free leagues myself, but I never just join some public league where I know nobody.
