Sheets been a beast lately

Postby Jbyrdo » Sat Aug 20, 2005 10:43 pm

Not including his fluke start at coors, over his past five starts (including tonight) he has had 4 complete games, giving up 2 runs or less in every appearence (again not including coors). He also has had at least 7 K's in all five of those games.

What a man.

I picked him up a couple weeks ago in my keeper league and so far I've been very pleased.

He was a FA/Waivers in a KEEPER league 8-o 8-o 8-o 8-o :-? :-? Wow.... and yes, he has been a beast lately, and has majorly paid off for all of the owners like myself who traded for him during the ear infection debacle looking for him to be rested and healthy to put together a strectch run like this ;-D

Yeah, Sheets has been dominant. You really have to take the Colorado start with a grain of salt for two reasons:

1. Sheets has always struggled in Coors. He hates the place. It kills his "out pitch", that being his curve. I think he threw all fastballs for 3 innings before starting to mix in a couple curves, which weren't particularly good.

2. Even after giving up a bunch of runs, Yost kept him to take more of a beating to help spare the bullpen as much as possible. I don't agree with the move, as Sheets has thrown a lot of innings lately, but it is what it is.

Not even a 4 teamer coudl keep Sheets on waivers. It'd have to be a half team league...

By "picked him up" I meant "traded for him"...heh...guess I should have been a little more specific.

Ya mostly all pitchers that use a good curve as their out pitch tend to suck at Coors.
