Fanball strikes again...

from fanball, via T.Jones' player notes at yahoo:

Aug 19 Marlins closer Todd Jones gave up one hit in a perfect ninth inning to close out his 26th save of the season. It marked the 16th straight save he has successfully converted.

Views: As far as closers go, Jones has been as dependable as they come, converting 26-of-28 save opportunities this season. That is the kind of reliability that fantasy owners covet.

But seriously, Todd Jones has been a rock this year!! Man I remember before the start of the season people asking the question of what happens if Mota struggles or goes down - they then laughed and said "Yeah.....Todd Jones, I guess". 8-o

Todd Jones really has been surprisingly good, I still had the doubt that he wouldn't keep the closer job just until a few days ago.

And that Fanball.com thing is pretty funny. ;-D :-b

Jones has to be strong contender for Comebacker of the Year. From a fantasy standpoint, quite possibly the biggest value of the stunner on the board this side of Tony Clark.

I would say those two and Mark Ellis of the Athletics would have to be the top candidates for the award.
