Anybody have any good suggestions or read any good books about the Negro Leagues? Either general histories or bios of Satchel, Cool Papa, etc. Thanks in advance. ;-D

I'd recommend Black Diamond by Pat McKissack. It's a good book rich with information, and it's compact so you don't spend your entire life reading the damn thing.

That's a good one. Here's a couple of others:
Only The Ball Was White by Robert Peterson (my personal favorite, it covers legendary- as well as lesser known- negro league players and intertwines it into a history of the Negro Leagues)

Negro League Baseball by Neil Lanctot (a bit long but still good)

Take a look at "I Was Right On Time" by Buck O'Neil. It's his autobiography.

O'Neil is (was...I still can't get used to the fact that he's dead) the greatest story-teller in baseball, and this book is chock full of good ones. He talks about Satchel, Cool Papa, Turkey Stearnes, El Diamante, Josh Gibson and a ton of other Negro League guys, as well as his experiences playing, coaching, scouting and setting up his Negro Leagues museum.

This is a GREAT read. Check it out.
