nymet top pitching prospect ypetit blew away the portland seadogs w/an awesome display .. 8 innnings 3 weak hits no walks 12 K's .. hanley ramirez and david murphy were out of the line up but other notable redsox farmhands moss, west, and durbin were combined 0 for 10 .. petit is now 9-3 .. the 20 yr old has a 2.91 and k/BB ratio of 130/18 !! sox prospect anibal sanchez did not fare as well giving up 8 hits and 3 earned runs in 6.1 IP .. he struck out 5 and walked 5 (2 intentionally) .. he did allow only one hit through 5 but the mets got to him in the 6th

It was definitely a matchup that I would of loved to watch. Could Petit be in the rotation in 06?

I think '07 is more likely if everything continues well. I assume he'll start the next season at AAA Norfolk if he continues to pitch this well at AA Bing.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

i saw anibal verse sowers earlier this year and that was pretty nice,,,, but anibal verse petit would have been just a bit nicer..... ;-D ;-D but amazinz has it right,,, both of them have the chance to be mid season call ups next year, but more than likely 2007 is their year.......

Wow. Earlier than I expected, the Mets just promoted Petit to AAA Norfolk. He starts Monday. This is very unlike the Mets so it's nice to see Omar isn't as protective as the Mets have been in the past.

Maybe they won't trade him for a Victor Zambrano type like Kazmir :-P

not a bad first start for petit in AAA

6 innings, 8 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks, 6 k's.... he should settle down a little more next start and get that whip back to his normal production.....

I was just looking at Petit's numbers today and he has to be a top 5 pitching prospect. I hope the Mets leave him for a full year in triple A with maybe a Sept callup next year but the guys numbers are just sick.
