Band of Brothers

Postby WharfRat » Wed Aug 17, 2005 4:14 pm

I noticed last Sunday night that the pilot episode for Band of Brothers was airing on the History Channel. Turns out they're re-airing the series, every Sunday night for the next couple months. I'm guessing most of you have already seen the show, but for those who haven't you NEED to sit your arse on the couch and watch this, especially if you have a few uncles and grandfathers who fought in WWII (like I do). When they first aired them on HBO when I was in college, it was like an event every Sunday night, my roommates and I would get some brews and pizza and get completely sucked in to this show.

In fact, you'd be better off buying - not renting, BUYING - the whole un-edited thing on DVD. But if you can't do that, catch 'em on History. ;-D

Here is the third recomendation. One of the best shows I have ever seen on TV. It is produced like a movie but it is better because they have a longer time to tell the story and develop the characters. A must watch!

It's definately a kick butt movie, I think Tom Hanks and or Spielburg had something to do with it.

Excellent series, one of the best ever on HBO and a great WWII film. I own it, and I'd suggest all of you should own it too.

I own it as well and really enjoyed it. I've watched it twice since it first aired on HBO. I really enjoy the interviews with the old vets at the beginning of the shows and the extras that are on the DVD. I went ahead and read the book after I saw it the first time expecting more of the same. The book was informative but generally dry and disinteresting. They did a heck of a job turning all of that textbook history into a great story.

Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Must see. The whole thing is great but the first 2-3 episodes are unbelievably good.
