Baldelli for 2006?

Postby Bozo » Tue Aug 16, 2005 2:44 pm

Will Rocco have much value on draft day next year? Considering speed is (was) an important part of his game, I wonder how much he'll run coming back from his knee problems. I assume the arm problems shouldnt affect him much.
Now, as long as he doesnt get hurt playing hide and go seek with the neighborhood kids this winter----

That OF is going to become very crowded , very soon. They already have Crawford, Gathright, Gomes, and Huff... then add in Baldelli, and possibly Delmon Young at the beginning of next year.. and who knows.. Upton may be forced to move out there if he can't drastically cut down on his errors.

I think you kinda hafta figure that Huff will get traded over the winter. Crawford definitely has a job and the way Gomes has been hitting you'd think they'll find a spot for him somewhere. Young's numbers have been great in the minors but yet the Rays still keep talking as if he won't be major league ready next spring?? I'm almost thinking that they'll have to deal Gathright as well or maybe send him back to the minors until he proves he can hit. I don't have the foggiest where they'll fit Upton.
After all that, I expect that Baldelli will have a job in TB. I'm just not sure what kind of numbers to expect from him.

Gathright is hitting right around .300, And when the rosters expand in september, if Young hits well, it would be hard to see him start off next year in the minors.
