Mike Lowell just pulled it off. Luis Terrero out at third with one out in the eighth...Terrero was the tying run.
Pretty big.

I was literally just explaining the intricacies of this play to my wife yesterday. I said, "I don't know why more teams don't try it more often."
Can you post a video link if you see one? I'd love to check that out. It's one of my fav plays in baseball because I like to see the expression on the base runner's face.

I've never quite understood where the pitcher is allowed to stand. I know it's at least not on the rubber, but I've heard that he can't stand on the mound, is that true?
And this is why you don't get off the bag until the pitcher is on the rubber.

That is the way you are supposed to do it. If you try to sneak the guy the ball, someone will usually noticed some sort of unusual motion, gesture, etc. You do it as happenstance at the start of a minute or two conversation and hope that the baserunner falls a sleep/does not pay attention.
As to why more teams do not try it...it is called a 90 mph fastball at the chin.

Yahhh....remember to tell them to steal a couple of bases with a 7 run lead too.
