He also just said in the paper that the Twins really miss Guzman and Koskie and that the offense wouldn't struggle so much if they had more speed in the line-up. Or if they didn't have three @%ing utility infielders in the line-up each night and leave the minors system bursting with live arms, never moving any of their pitching prospects for a bat. Or probably the fact that the last three Twins to hit 30 homeruns in a season all did so in 1987.
When I read that in the paper, I had to sit down, and for the next hour, thought long and hard about remaining a Twins fan. Milwaukee is only 5.5 hours away.
2005 VORP
Cuddyer - 11.7
Koskie - 2.4
I wonder what it is the Twins would need Koskie for this year? Is it his .715 OPS compared to Cuddyer's .769 or just the 52 games Koskie has been able to play?
And then his minor league room mate Scott Ulger has yet to see anyone sustain improvement during his tenure as hitting coach.
I don't mind losing. I was as happy as ever in the mid-to-late nineties. But watching the Twins shoot themselves in the foot and listening to Gardenhire's truly idiotic comments, like when the team began struggling and he called out Mauer and Morneau earlier in the season... yes, blame your woes on a 22 and 24 year-old kids for not playing hurt when one is a franchise catcher who already lost a season to knee surgery and the other has battled a fastball to the skull and appendix problems. They're both milking it to get out of playing...
