In our league Manny Ramirez just got traded for Pods and Guardado. The 3rd place team is trading ManRam with the last place team. A couple people at the top aren't happy with the deal.
Is it unfair? The 9th ranked player in yahoo for the 122nd and the 49th.

Thoughts please.
first off, don't go by yahoo rankings -- these are usually worthless.
as for the trade -- look at what categories each team needs help with and how many points they can gain in each.
the team that is getting pods and guardado -- does it need a handful of saves and steals to jump ahead in the standings? how about the team that is getting Manny? does it need a bump in the power and average stats?
in vacuum I wouldn't want to do a trade like this, but in the endgame of a roto season it might very well be a clutch (hehe... sue me for using that word) trade.
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll drown because you forgot to teach him to swim.

Well, firstly I have very little time for Yahoo rankings. It's lopsided, but not vetoably so. You can make the case for Pods and Guardado over Manny if you're in last and have no chance of catching up in homers/rbi even with him, but could gain a bunch of points in sb and sv.

I'm the 3rd place team giving Manny away. Over two months time I will probably lose around 5 points total in Hr's/RBI but can gain about 7 points with 15 steals. Saves aren't much of a factor since I'm in 3rd place already.
I'd say some of it depends on how far down the last place team is. In this case, he's 60 points back of the leaders, and is not an active manager. Suddenly, he's active when the 3rd place team needs some help.
I didn't veto, just for the record...but I do think it's fishy.
So basically the league is all aghast and thinking of vetoing because they think the team getting Pods and Guardado is getting the better end of the deal?!?..
The third place team is getting Pods and Eddie? No way that should be vetoed then. It's obvious the 3rd place team needs those two more than Manny, or he wouldn't do the trade.
I thought the last place team was selling Manny off to the third place team because he's out of it. Then, you'd have a legit discussion. But if the third place team is the one losing Manny, then it really isn't a question.

Well, if it's the third placed team giving up Manny, what the hell's the problem? Yes, it looks collusive if a dead manager comes back and helps out a guy who needs it, but if he's getting more than value for what he's given up, who cares?
