Where's Jose Guillen...again?

Postby DaQ » Sun Aug 07, 2005 6:23 pm

What happened to him? I didn't see him play the entire weekend series against the Padres. Is he alright?

From KFFL:
Aug 7 Washington Nationals OF Jose Guillen (shoulder) will get a second opinion on his ailing left shoulder from Dr. James Andrews, according to the Associated Press. He is expected to miss the upcoming series against the Houston Astros, as well as part of the following series, against the Colorado Rockies.

From Rotowire:
Aug 7 An MRI on Guillen's shoulder revealed a possible tear of his rotator cuff, the Nationals website reports.
Recommendation: He'll be sidelined for now pending a consultation with Dr. James Andrews -- chances are he won't need surgery, just rest. Don't expect to see his name in a box score for at least a week.

Some good news.

From Rotowire:

Aug 9 Guillen's shoulder injury will not require season-ending surgery, the Washington Post reports.
Recommendation: GM Jim Bowden estimated that Guillen could be back on the field in "three to seven days".

And he hit a homerun today! BUT...how will the partially torn rotator cuff impact Guillen's hitting the rest of the season?

I expect him to be in & out of the line up for the rest of the year if the Nats stay in contention.

I dropped Guillen in a league because of this. Can we please make sure our sources are legit and right before we post @#%!.

It was a good source, ESPNews isn't exactly the bottom of the barrell. Have more patients next time, with a guy like Guillen... you can't drop him until you see that big red "DL" next to his name and confirmed dates for the knife.
