Off the top of my head, the guys that I see going for sure in the first round next year are: Pujols, A-Rod, Vlad, Abreu, Soriano, Tejada, MCab, Tex. If you can show me 5 other guys who are better than MCab I'll be surprised.

my 5 better are
Manny
Ortiz
Sheff
Aramis
Crawford

your crazy..... you think sheff and ortiz will put up better numbers, give me a break....sheff is barely hitting 300, and that goes for ortiz also...

mcab hasnt even come close to his prime yet, everyone u listed hit it already...
how did colon win the cy young??

MCab is most definitely (and not even a doubt) a first rounder next year. I will take him mid-first round. Also, I would go so far as to say he is a better keeper than Pujols at this point, so long as position isn't a factor for your team (like if you have a good 1b already). Plus, MCab has a chance to be moved to 3b at some point.

Here's a hint: I never took Beltran.

Just b/c you are in first place doesn't mean you are wrong. For whatever dumb reason, you think Miggy is not up there with Manny, Pujols, Etc.

A lot of people passed on Beltran. That doesn't mean you will be right about Cabrera.

Miggy is certainly not up there with Pujols. Pujols has done better than MCab for what, 5 years now?

How can you say that? Do you really value past production that much? Adrian Beltre did better than Pujols last year too......

Look at their futures, and MCab's is brighter. He is the absolute best young player in the game IMO...and we're just now getting a glimpse of the potential he has. We haven't even come close to seeing his peak yet....not that we've seen Pujols' either, but I do think his production has somewhat leveled off, while Cabrera's is obviously still rising.

Lets compare them yearly.

Pujols Rookie Season:
112-37-130-.329

Cabrera (first full season):
101-33-112-.294

_____________________________

Pujols Second Season:
118-34-127-.314

Cabrera Second (full) season Projected:
108-37-121-.355

In that case id rather have Cabrera because of the difference in avg. Whos to say how Cabrera will do in the next 3 years, but if he keeps improving he is going to at least match if not have better stats than pujols. For example:

Cabrera increases at 7-4-9-.61 a year.

So at the end of the year 2008 Cabrera will have hit 129-49-148-.538

Ill take those numbers. :-D :-D :-D

Good post, Cabrera is quickly getting the respect he's deserved for a while....if he played for either NY team or for Boston, he'd already be baseball's posterboy. Stuck in Florida, however, he's not really a household name....yet. It's a shame really. He may like it that way though, who knows.

Ummm yes he certainly is. Compare their stats since each broke into the league. Take into consideration that Pujols plays in a much favorable park and on a much better offensive team, Miggy projects to be just as good. Once Miggy learns to be more discilplined, he will be the best hitter for years to come.

I know mcab looks like a 1st rounder on paper, but I dont know if I would even take him over a healthy Barry Bonds...I can think of 12 players I would rather have on my team than him...

Pujols
Arod
Soriano
Tejada
Guerrero
Bonds
Sheffield
Ortiz
Manny
Beltran
Lee
Crawford/Pierre
